You may have noticed that on your feed page and lean follow page users can follow you by clicking on the icons for Facebook, Twitter and Google.
However, when they do this, they won’t get your updates on their Facebook/Twitter/Google accounts, but still via the channels they selected when they followed you (which most likely includes the "Email channel" which is much more effective than social media to make people come back to your site).
Allowing users to follow you by clicking on the social media icons bring you – as publisher – two main benefits:
- People can follow you with one click (without having to enter their email address), increasing conversions significantly
- It is already confirmed that they want to follow you (no double opt-in required), thereby again increasing the number of your active subscribers
