When you (or a publisher) enter a website URL on follow.it to set up a feed, our server will try to identify the website’s RSS feed automatically. A valid RSS feed is required so that your feed on follow.it can work. If you are not familiar with RSS yet, please have a look at What is RSS?
From then on, our servers will screen the RSS feed on a recurring basis – and if it finds a new story, saves it (in most cases only a link to the story is saved) on the follow.it servers.
How often we screen the RSS feed depends on which membership model the publisher is on. If the publisher is a premium member, then we screen the RSS feed more often, so that new stories reach our system faster.
Once the new stories are in our system we will send it according to your delivery settings. Please have a look at When do messages get sent?
